South Cobb is an affluent population, and more residents earn over $100,000 than in the $50,000 to $100,000 range. However, 18 percent of the population is in poverty, according to an Atlanta Regional Commission report. The Great Escape was developed to improve economic equity among families in South Cobb.

With 112,084 students, the Cobb County school district is the second largest in Georgia and 23rd largest in the United States. The racial profile is 37.7 percent White, 30.9 percent Black, 21.7 percent Hispanic, 5.6 percent Asian, 3.8 percent Multi-racial and less than one percent American Indian and Pacific Islander.
